QR Payminder can connect to AI assistants via MCP (Model Context Protocol) — the open standard assistants use to talk to external services. Once connected, just tell your assistant:
- "Add the electricity payment to QR Payminder, same as last month."
- "I want to send Tomáš Novák 2,000 CZK for dinner."
- "Set up installments: 5 monthly payments, 30,000 CZK total, due on the 15th."
- "What do I have to pay this week?"
…and a prepared payment with a QR code appears in QR Payminder, exactly as if you had created it by hand.
The assistant never pays anything
The most important thing first: the connection gives the assistant (or anyone else) no access to your money. QR Payminder is not connected to your bank — the assistant can only prepare a payment. You pay it yourself, in your own banking app, by scanning the QR code, like any other payment in the app. The worst possible failure is a badly prepared payment — which you will see and delete before paying.
How to set up the connection
- Find where your assistant adds a connector / MCP server:
- Claude (web, desktop and mobile apps): Settings → Connectors → "Add custom connector".
- ChatGPT (web, Plus/Pro/Business plans): Settings → Connectors → enable "Developer mode" → add an MCP server.
- Paste the server address:
https://APP-ADDRESS/mcp. - The assistant redirects you to QR Payminder — log in if you aren't (a passkey works great) — and the app asks whether to allow the assistant access: reading payments and preparing new ones. Confirm and you're done.
From that moment on you can dictate payments. The connection shows up in Settings under "Connected AI assistants" — and the same place has a one-click Disconnect button.
What the assistant can and cannot do
Can: read your payments and recipients, prepare a one-off payment, copy an earlier payment with a new due date, create an installment plan, and mark a payment as paid (when you tell it you paid).
Cannot: pay, delete or edit existing payments, change account settings, or see anyone else's data. Payments created through an assistant are also rate-limited (30 per hour) — a runaway agent cannot flood your dashboard.
Every assistant action is written into the payment's history, so you can always tell what came from where.
Which assistants support this?
MCP is the standard backed by all the major players, but consumer apps differ in whether custom connectors have shipped yet: Claude supports them on the web, desktop and mobile apps; ChatGPT on the web in paid plans (developer mode). Gemini and Microsoft Copilot currently offer custom connectors only in their enterprise editions — once they reach regular users, the QR Payminder connection will work there unchanged.
Tip: after connecting, start with "what do I have to pay this week?" — you'll see right away that the assistant really sees your payments.
